| An unlikely triumvirate we know but there is a connection, honest |
Here at Boxfresh we have an ongoing partnering arrangement with Shrewsbury Folk Festival and indeed we will be again a key sponsor for this year’s festival. An interesting off-shoot of this relationship is a smaller sponsorship (us providing some of our food) to what’s know as the Darwin Song Project. Basically a group of 8 highly esteemed folk songwriters are getting together for a week in March in a house in South Shropshire to write songs celebrating the bi-centenary of Darwin’s birth in Shrewsbury. Artists involved Karine Polwart, Jez Lowe, Stu Hanna and Chris Wood. The residential week will culminate in a concert to showcase the songs at the new Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury on Thursday 19 March 09. BBC Radio 4 are also on board as a sponsor and will be airing a programme about the project. All songs written during the week will also be available on CD and will be given special prominence at the year’s Shrewsbury Folk Festival.
